MUSIC SUPERVISION
Music Supervision, to us, is never just transactional. We are a relationship-first company. We don't do this for the awards, the fees, or the deliverables - we do it for the journey. For the moment a director hears something that makes the hairs stand up on the back of their neck. For the discovery of an artist nobody has placed yet. For the genre we've never encountered before that turns out to be exactly right. We bring a genuine independent, start-up energy to every project we touch - however large the brand, however tight the deadline. When you work with Syncsmith, you get a dedicated Music Supervisor embedded directly into your creative team from the earliest stages. Not handed off to a junior or co-ordinator. Not managed remotely from a catalogue. Present, engaged, and fully invested in your vision from treatment through to delivery. We take time - properly - to understand what you're making, what you want it to feel like, and what it needs to do. Then we take care of everything: early ideation and audio strategy, mood-boarding, music searches, demo’s and composer selection, rights clearance, licensing, invoice processing, cue sheet submission and final whitelisting. You focus on the creative. We'll handle the rest.
UNDERSTAND THE VISION
Every great project starts with a conversation. Not about budgets or briefs - about what the work is really trying to say. When director Lino Russell brought us into Range Rover’s “Spillway” campaign, our first instinct wasn't to open a catalogue. It was to listen. To understand the harshness of the Icelandic environment Jess Hawkins would be driving into. To grasp the sheer magnitude of what the Accenture Song team were attempting and the risks they had experienced on set. To comprehend and accurately communicate the tension between machine performance and human fragility - the quiet vulnerability behind Jess's eyes as she faced something genuinely unknown. That understanding shaped every musical decision that followed. The composer selection, the pacing, the texture, the emotional register. Nothing was pitched or placed until we were absolutely certain it was serving the vision, not decorating it. That's how we work on every project. Big or small. We listen first.
IDENTIFY THE SOUND
Finding the right music isn't about searching - it's about understanding. Deeply, obsessively, from every angle. When we were approached for the Campari Red Passion campaign - their first major rebrand in over 20 years - the weight of that responsibility was not lost on us. Working closely with director Matt Lambert, we went to extraordinary lengths before a single track was considered. What did red actually feel like as a sound? How do you capture liquid in musical form? How do you honour a brand legacy that spans two centuries whilst simultaneously pointing it toward its future? The campaign featured five world-class talents - mixologists, dancers, performers - each carrying their own story, their own energy, their own excellence. The music had to hold all of that. Colour, melodic structure, vibrancy. The warmth of a brand rooted in tradition and the electric pulse of one stepping boldly into what comes next. This solution didn’t arrive easily, but felt all the more earned.
DELIVER WITH CONFIDENCE
When everything is on the line, this is where it matters most. The Nike “On Air” project was, by any measure, a behemoth. Multiple creative rewrites and directional changes. An immovable timeline. The Olympic Games as a backdrop. Three hundred global VIPs in attendance. A brief that expanded to encompass experiential installations, R&D, social media deliverables, live event support, voiceover production and transcription across ten languages - all delivered on the ground, in a foreign country, in real time. Would we do it again? Honestly, we ask ourselves that question about certain projects. But here's what we know. When the pressure was at its highest, when the asks kept coming and the clock kept moving, we didn't flinch. We deployed everything we had, stayed calm in the chaos, and delivered. Every element. On time. The complexity, the pressure, the seemingly impossible - that's not something we shy away from. It's something we quietly relish.
Music Supervision done properly is one of the most intimate creative collaborations there is. It asks for trust - in both directions. Trust that you'll share the vision honestly. Trust that we'll handle it with the upmost of care. Syncsmith has been providing music supervision, sound design and music licensing services to global brands, creative directors, advertising agencies and film productions since 2016. In that time we've worked across luxury fashion, automotive, sport, technology, entertainment and experiential - placing music for Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci, Nike, Range Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Campari, Formula One and many more. We've navigated Olympic timelines, extensive brand legacies and everything in between. What hasn't changed is how we approach the work. With curiosity. With patience. With genuine respect for what you're trying to make. If you have a brief - or even just the beginning of an idea - we'd love to hear it. Not to pitch. Just to listen. Share your idea with us here.
