The Golden Filter

The Golden Filter is the collective guise and art-inspired project of Penelope Trappes and Stephen Hindman. The Golden Filter’s experimental and exploratory sonics first emerged in 2008 against a New York City backdrop acting as an antidote to the pop music status quo. Now based in London, their minimal wave sound pushes the limits of analogue soundscaping, caressed by Penelope’s angular, ghostly vocalisations and Stephen’s crystalline production. Possessing an other-worldly and ethereal aesthetic that envelopes the listener in warming and familiar retrograde synth tones the paring has provided sound design for Chanel, Ferragamo and Moschino. In 2019, The Golden Filter released two EPs, ‘Dislocation’ and 'Restraint,' as well as a full-length LP, 'Autonomy' on their newly formed label, along with a 17-date tour supporting Sharon Van Etten throughout Europe. To date they’ve released 7 self-written and self-produced albums on highly credible, forward-thinking independent labels including Vinyl Factory and Optimo. Along with their music being synced to a number of premium brand campaigns, they’ve recently scored Steven Soderbergh’s Beats feature film and soundtracked a series of runway shows including JW Anderson, Fendi and Givenchy.
