patten

Visionary London-based producer patten (aka London-based visual artist, designer, and lecturer Damien Roach) is renowned for hi-tech immersive AV shows and cross-platform projects, tracing a path through design, installation, film and live performance. His recent work includes shows at the ICA and Tate Modern in London, a jaw-dropping immersive AV tour with SHAPE Platform in 2019, creative direction and design for Caribou’s Jiaolong label & Daphni project, Tron run/R artwork for Disney, design, animation & artwork for Nathan Fake’s ‘Blizzards’ LP, live EU tour visuals for The Glitch Mob, video soundtracking for Topshop, projections for MoMA in LA, simultaneous 3049 art installations in London and Amsterdam, and establishing the 555-5555 web forum following his creative agency of the same name.

On his 2019 FLEX longplayer, patten returned with an ultramodern potent strain of shape shifting, prismatic music.  6 months after FLEX and it’s live AV sensorial overload, patten dropped the second release on his 555-5555 imprint, the beatless, cinematic album GLOW. Created entirely during lockdown, GLOW surfed austere, emotive landscapes, with slowly unwinding clusters of interlocking melodies, melding metal riffs, modern classical atmospheres, elegiac synthesizers, shoegaze guitars, and overdriven basslines. In quick succession followed GLO))), a drone metal reimagining of GLOW, and then the hyper-detailed, amorphous hi-tech sonics of Aegis, coming to four full length albums in the span of a year. In January 2021, he released the atmospheric soundtrack to his futuristic 2018 film, 3049.
