NIKE “ON AIR” EXPERIENTIAL EVENT

 

In a moment to signal a multi-year innovation supercycle, Nike showcased its world-class roster of athletes and the power of its proprietary Nike Air technology during an unforgettable "Nike On Air" event at Palais Brongniart in Paris. The immersive and sensorial experience underscored three truths: Nike is the brand of athletes, its innovations lead the sport industry and its Air technology uniquely enables the company to serve all athletes with unrivalled performance product. The event showcased the rich history and limitless future of Nike Air - including previews of what's to come. The main event featured 40 elite athletes from around the world to unveil Olympic team kits and present the future of athlete co-creation with iconic looks that highlighted their self-expression, vision and incredible athleticism. The Nike On Air experience culminated with the reveal of A.I.R. (Athlete Imagined Revolution) and 13 athletes' conceptions for the future of Air, represented by mind-bending, AI-explored, 3D-printed footwear that Nike's innovation teams brought to life.

 

AUDIO STRATEGY

In March ‘24 Syncsmith was appointed as Music Supervision & Audio Partner for the Nike “On Air” event.

As part of our deliverables, we provided Sound Design, Bespoke Composition and overarching Music Supervision for the Nike “On Air” Event, directly supporting Nike and La Mode En Image in Paris at Palais Brongniart.

Given the backdrop of the Olympics in Paris, this was a high-stakes event for Nike and a real opportunity to bring the focus back towards their technical offering and therefore the event needed to deliver.

Attended by Travis Scott, Ronaldinho, Kylian Mbappe and Serena Williams the event surpassed all expectations receiving accolades from global press and crystalising the benchmark for future experiential events.

 

SOUND DESIGN

To innovate, we built a custom Sound Design library, a bespoke palette to amplify key moments within the production, unique to Nike and centred on the theme of “A-I-R”.

The SD Library comprised of over 300+ individual sonics developed to punctuate key aspects of the Nike “On Air” event, including Human Heartbeats, Athletic Breathing, Sports Performative SFX, Swooshing, A-I-R Thematic SFX, Air Bubble Technology and Hyper-Realistic Athletic In-Action sonics. The SD Library and Nike specific palette was developed through granular synthesis, will never feature in any released sample pack and is available to support future campaigns of this nature.

In addition we recorded, processed and transcribed Athletes Voiceover in 10 x different languages, including re-recording VO for Nike CCO & Serena Williams.

 

BESPOKE COMPOSITION

For the Main Show at Palais Brongniart, we produced the entire 20 minute score consisting of 5 x Bespoke Compositions unique to the event and licensed exclusively to Nike for both the event and the accompanying social media deliverables.

Alongside the 5 x Bespoke Compositions we provided bespoke Pre-Show Music, Post-Show Music and ambient tracks to be played as VIPs were entering the main hall.

Syncsmith also provided bespoke compositions for 3 x Immersive Art-Driven Installations and interactive features that VIPs and Global Press transited prior to attending the main event.

We provided on-site technical support in Paris for the duration and provided full event Music Supervision, Sound Design, Final Mix & Licensing support.

 

IMMERSIVE SOUND DESIGN (R&D)

We conducted extensive R&D centric to the “A-I-R” theme, developing immersive sequences of Sound Design to amplify futuristic designs and anamorphic CGI content.
