SOUND DESIGN

You already know when sound design isn't working. The edit feels flat. It’s not memorable. The visuals carry more weight than they should. Something is missing and everyone in the room can feel it - they just can't always name it. Great sound design is rarely noticed. It's felt. It's the difference between an audience watching your campaign and an audience living inside it. The difference between a cut that lands and one that lingers. At Syncsmith we co-locate our sound design and composition work from the very beginning, so the two never compete - they interlace and breathe together. The result is something hyper-realistic, immersive and purposefully crafted around your visual language. Hollywood-level SFX, Foley and diegetics that don't just fill the space - they command it. We've delivered sound design for Nike, Moncler, Google and Hublot among others. Every time the brief is different. The standard never is. If your production deserves to be felt as much as it's seen, there’s probably a conversation to be had.

UNDERSTAND THE ASK

Before a single sound is designed, we need to understand what the work is truly asking for. Not just the brief - the physics of it. The feeling of it. When director Tom Crate brought us into the Hublot MP-13 launch, the stakes were considerable. This was a new product reveal at Watches and Wonders in Geneva - one of the most prestigious stages in the global watch industry. The MP-13's defining features, a double-axis tourbillon and dual retrograde dial, needed to be brought to life in motion through CGI, with Studio Tendril handling the visual world. Tom's brief was precise and demanding in equal measure. Every sound design element had to amplify rotational movement, shifts in velocity, gravitational pull, motoric precision. The sonic world needed to feel as engineered and exacting as the watch itself - nothing decorative, nothing approximate, everything intentional. That level of specificity is exactly what we're built for. The more precise the ask, the better the work becomes.

DEVELOP THE PALETTE

Some projects demand more than a sound library can offer. More than any existing bank of SFX. They demand sounds that have never existed before - built from the ground up, engineered with surgical precision, and impossible to replicate. That is exactly what was required for the Nike On Air experiential event. Three hundred global VIPs. A pitch black auditorium. A binaural system primed to trigger hyper-immersive sonic treatments the moment guests crossed the threshold. Nothing could be borrowed. Everything had to be built. Serena Williams breathing on court. The precise squeak of LeBron James' basketball sneakers on hardwood. The futuristic resonance of Nike Air bubble technology rendered as sound. Over 200 bespoke sonic elements - each one engineered from scratch through granular synthesis, macro-level sound design and obsessive attention to detail. When the lights went down and the first sounds hit, the room didn't just hear it. They felt it in their bones.

AMPLIFY THE VISION

Sound design, at its best, moves the soul. It pulls you through the screen and into another world. It makes you forget where you are sitting and feel something profound. That is the standard we hold ourselves to. On the Campari Red Passion campaign with director Matt Lambert, we went to extraordinary lengths to achieve just that. Contact microphones frozen into large blocks of ice, so that when they shattered on set every crack, every fissure, every fracture was captured with visceral, physical immediacy. Contact mics stitched into the layers of dancer MJ Harper's costume, so that every movement - every shift of weight, every moment of grace and poise, became an integral sonic component of the whole piece. This is not borrowed sound. This is forensic, scientific, obsessive sound design built from the inside out - layered, purposeful and completely irreplaceable. Because when it's done right, you don't notice the sound at all. You just feel something you can't quite explain.

Sound design is not a finishing touch. Neither is it the last thing added before the grade. To many, sound design is hard to define. To us, it's the very essence of award-winning campaigns. At its finest it is woven into the fabric of a production from the very beginning - informing the edit, elevating the composition, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Syncsmith has been delivering bespoke sound design for global brands, creative directors, advertising agencies and film productions since 2016. From igniting the pitch black auditorium of a Nike experiential event to the frozen contact microphones of a Campari global campaign. Every project different. Every sonic palette built from scratch. We don't borrow. We build. We don't stop until the sound is doing everything the vision demands of it - and then a little more. The productions that stay with people long after the screen goes dark all have one thing in common. The sound was doing something the audience couldn't quite put their finger on - but would have immediately noticed if it wasn't there. That architecture is what we build.
